A fire broke out in Lotus Boulevard Society in Sector 100, Noida after an air conditioner exploded.

An air conditioner exploded in an apartment complex in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, leading to a massive fire. The incident occurred at Lotus Boulevard Society in Noida Sector 100, where thick black smoke could be seen pouring over the high-rise structures.

The fire broke out due to an explosion in an air conditioning unit inside the building on Thursday morning. Five firefighters rushed to the spot. According to officials, no one was reported injured or killed as a result of the incident.

The explosion was caused by a split air conditioning unit. The fire fighting system was activated in the housing society and the fire was brought under control as soon as officials reached the spot.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing dense smoke billowing out over the high-rise buildings of Lotus Boulevard Society.

Eyewitnesses said residents living next to the apartment left their flats as soon as they saw smoke and gathered in the society’s common room as a precaution.

According to chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey, nearby residents and residents of the society contacted the fire service unit at the 10th level flat of the building at around 10.10 am.

“We immediately sent five vehicles (water tenders) to the spot. But even before our vehicles could reach, the fire extinguishers kept in the society doused the fire within 10 minutes,” he said.

“The fire was caused by the explosion of the air conditioner. Since the fire fighting systems like sprinklers, fire extinguishers and hoses were working effectively, the fire did not spread far and was confined to one room (of the flat),” Choubey said, adding that no one was killed or injured in the incident.

Five fire tenders reached the spot soon after the first call was received and tried their best to control the fire. The fire service successfully doused the fire without causing any significant structural damage to the building.

The fire stopped with no casualties. The incident took place in Sector 39 police station area.
