From the historic Red Fort, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced a major pledge to the people of India on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day. He promised to launch a transformative initiative called ‘PM Vishvakarma Yojana’. To honor this promise, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti and his birthday. Delhi. This visionary program aims to empower skilled craftsmen and artisans from every corner of our diverse nation.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel attended the inauguration ceremony of this project in Ahmedabad. The Chief Minister felicitated the beneficiaries and launched the scheme from Ahmedabad, Gujarat in the presence of Minister for Industries Shri Balwant Singh Rajput and Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Industries Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that the Prime Minister has made a dedicated effort to ensure development, provide opportunities and give a new identity to small artisans and craftsmen through this scheme.

He said that ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ is a comprehensive scheme for the upliftment of small and big artisans, providing them with training, technology, credit and marketing support.

About 2 lakh small and big artisans of Gujarat will benefit from this ‘Pradhani Vishwakarma Yojana’. Not only this, the scheme will benefit approximately 20 lakh people across the country.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always been dedicated to the welfare of the poor, deprived, exploited and marginalized people of the country. In the same spirit, on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine craftsman of various professions including sculpture, handicrafts and architecture, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gifted the ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’ to artisans and small artisans.

The Chief Minister spoke about the commitment of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. In the last 9 years, a new history of governance and development has been created, from effective implementation of various welfare schemes to lifting 13.5 crore people out of poverty.

Talking further about the ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’, the Chief Minister said that in order to realize the basic principle of ‘Souno Saath, Souno Vikas’, this dedicated scheme is worth Rs. 13,000 crore in the next 5 years.

A total of 18 types of professions will benefit, including carpenters, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, toy makers, weavers, masons, boat makers, potters, hammer makers, sculptors, tanners, gardeners, armourers, locksmiths, barbers, fishermen, washermen and tailors. The Chief Minister expressed that this scheme will contribute to real development by making them self-reliant.

He said that every scheme of the Central and State Government under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is designed to benefit the smallest and the neediest. No one should be left out and every citizen should get the benefits of the schemes.

Today, every citizen of the country thinks that the central government is a pro-people government. During the Covid-19 pandemic, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana of Rs. 300 crores for 3 lakh urban vendors.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, as the country enters the ‘Elixir of Freedom’, the PM Vishwakarma Yojana will promote the holistic development of India’s various small artisans and craftspeople.

Shri Balwant Singh Rajput, Minister of State for Industries, while extending his best wishes on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, said that today is the auspicious beginning of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. It is also Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday, so it is a very important day.

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana, a scheme for the welfare of small artisans and craftsmen, offers benefits for 18 different trades. These include training, stipend, tool kit, and loan without guarantee.

Minister Shri Balwant Singh Rajput said that PM Vishwakarma Yojana will give priority to artisans of 18 different professions and provide them with necessary assistance. Along with this, financial assistance and modern training will also be provided. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has worked to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the grassroots level.

Minister Shri Balwant Singh Rajput highlighted that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Gujarat and Micron Technology as a result of the Prime Minister’s successful visit to the US. Today, Gujarat is the state that provides maximum employment opportunities in the country.

Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Industries said that the celebration of Vishwakarma Jayanti and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s birthday has made this day historic. He emphasized that Gujarat is the state that provides maximum employment opportunities to artisans in the entire country.

Later, he said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the products made by Vishwakarma artisans are getting recognition all over the world. Recently, during the G20 summit, items made by Vishwakarma artisans were presented to the dignitaries.

He said the goods produced by artisans are reaching homes across the country through various mediums like stalls at railway stations, Ekta Mall in Kevadia Colony, handicraft shops and fairs.

During the construction of the Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, the British also worshiped Lord Vishwakarma through a ceremony, the minister said. Similarly, during the inauguration of the Statue of Unity, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also performed a ceremony in honor of Lord Vishwakarma. The PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a step towards economic upliftment of Vishwakarma artisans.

Minister Shri Jagadish Vishwakarma urged all citizens, including artisans, to write postcards expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and invited them to take the cleanliness pledge.

It is noteworthy that under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, loans ranging from 20 thousand to 10 lakhs will be given to artisans of various professions aged 18 years and above. 1 lakh at discounted interest rate for a period of 18 months. 2 lakhs at discounted interest rate for a period of 30 months.

Besides, the beneficiaries of this scheme will also get PM Vishwakarma certificate and identity card. Artisans will be provided basic and advanced training, stipend and financial assistance up to Rs. 15,000 as a toolkit. Registration for the scheme is done online based on Aadhaar card authentication through biometric verification at City Civic Centre.

On the same occasion, PM Vishwakarma information booklet was released.

Thennarasan, Zilla Panchayat President, District Development Officer Shri Mehul Dave, MLAs, Zilla Panchayat Officers, Officials, Corporators and a large number of skilled artisans were present.
